This is a circa 1896 copy of “Barnes's Elementary Geography” featuring

but is also similar in manner to early American chalkware pieces I have found of horses and deer and cats

as much as most any other sort of thing

and a bit of irregularity to the form (just off round)

Very unusual to find a mold like this cast of bronze it seems to me, which makes me think perhaps this was cast from a cast of a pewter mold as something of an art piece(?) Whatever the case, its existence in bronze certainly makes it feel like an art object (2 objects really) and I really love these rows of waving hands, which lend themselves to various presentations in relation to one another but are also quite nice divided up;
